Gabriela Ivens is the Head of Open Source Research and part of the Digital Investigations Lab at Human Rights Watch. She assists and conducts investigations and develops new investigative methods using publicly available information. She works primarily with visual information, analyzing and verifying videos and photographs of human rights violations. Previously, Gabriela was a Ford-Mozilla Fellow hosted at WITNESS where she co-wrote a report that confronted key dilemmas with controlled capture technology, one of the key approaches being proposed to authenticate media. Prior to that she worked for Syrian Archive and led the investigative portal Exposing the Invisible. Gabriela holds a masters in Human Rights from University College London.
